QUICK BUCKET SKILLS TASK 2
QUICK BUCKET SKILLS EXERCISE.
PHOTOSHOP.
AIM: USE OF SOME BASIC TOOLS IN PHOTOSHOP TO ADD COLOR TO A BASE MAP.
A good knowledge of Adobe photoshop is required for this exercise and the whole process should not exceed 3hours. firstly, the base map should be scanned at 300dpi in 1 bit mode and then imported into photoshop as a jpeg but in this case the base map was provided. Also, confirm the mode is RGB and 8bits. The paint bucket tool, magic wand tool and brush tool are the major tools used in this simple colouring process.
The whole exercise took me about 2hours,45mins, in order to re-accustom myself to photoshop and its tools and once familiar with it was able to use the tools and process faster i.e. creating a new layer via Edit > paste special > paste in place, which creates a new layer, pixelate, opacity, using the effects key(fx) to add drop shadows to make the colour rendering much more realistic.
However, it was discovered after viewing my classmates work on their various blogs that showcased quite a higher level of technical skills than myself made me do a self assessment and critique of the work. it is believed that my attention to detail and technical skills can improve overtime by practise, practise and more practise.
