Roberto Burle Marx: was a prominent Brazilian landscape architect, painter and ecologist known for his pioneering work in landscape design with a focus on native Brazilian flora, he created bold modernist landscapes that celebrated the country's natural beauty and cultural heritage, leaving a lasting mark on the field of landscape architecture.

Roberto Burle Marx's design of the Copacabana Beach promenade in Rio de Jeneiro is a masterpiece of modern landscape architecture. 


The promenade's iconic wave -patterned mosaic sidewalk, lush paintings, and strategically placed seating areas have transformed the waterfront into a vibrant and inviting public space. However, the maintenance of the promenade, especially regarding the preservation of the mosaic patterns and planting, could be improved to ensure the longevity of the Burle Marx's original vision.

COLOUR , plays an important role in the appreciation of our immediate and general environment and without it we would be lost, find our-selves devoid of the stimulation to our visual senses. So how does a human eye perceive colour?  First, a brief overview of how the human eyes work.   In order for us to see, light rays must be bent, or "refracted," so that they can reach the retina . Once the light reaches the retina, it's picked up by millions of "photoreceptors," or light-sensitive cells, called cones and rods.
