In the next decade, landscape architecture will prioritise resilience, sustainability, and health-oriented designs due to global environmental and social challenges. Key areas    include the integration of green infrastructure to combat climate change, the incorporation of biophilic design principles to enhance public well-being, and the rise of smart, technology-integrated outdoor spaces (SYNKD, 2024).

As cities continue to urbanise, the demand for sustainable, nature-infused urban areas will grow, addressing not only environmental needs but also mental health, promoting wellness through green spaces(IFLA, 2023). Moreover, urban planners will prioritise flood management and the reduction of urban heat islands, responding to climate change pressures(The Dirt, 2024).


With the advancement in AI and technology, landscape architecture will also see innovations like automated gardening and smart city landscapes, making outdoor spaces more efficient and accessible(SYNKD, 2024). These shifts highlight the growing intersection of technology, nature, and public health in shaping the future of landscapes.

COLOUR , plays an important role in the appreciation of our immediate and general environment and without it we would be lost, find our-selves devoid of the stimulation to our visual senses. So how does a human eye perceive colour?  First, a brief overview of how the human eyes work.   In order for us to see, light rays must be bent, or "refracted," so that they can reach the retina . Once the light reaches the retina, it's picked up by millions of "photoreceptors," or light-sensitive cells, called cones and rods. These cones and rods convert the light waves into information your brain can process, like colour , shape, and motion.(Levine,2017, Para.2).
