 PERGOLAS


Pergolas are freestanding or attached outdoor structures made of vertical posts that support a crossbeam or latticework, often used for walkways, patios, or as decorative garden features.

Types of Pergolas:

  1. Freestanding Pergolas:

    • Independent structure not attached to any other building.
    • Typically used to define a garden area or outdoor living space.

  1. Attached Pergolas (Wall-mounted):

    • Attached to the side of a building, such as a house or a fence.
    • Used as a transitional space between the indoors and outdoors.

  1. Gabled Pergolas:

    • Have a pitched roof, providing more shade and protection from weather.
    • Common in both traditional and modern designs.

  1. Arched Pergolas:

    • The roofline is arched, giving a more elegant look.
    • Often used in garden settings, over pathways, or seating areas.

  • Attached Pergolas:

    • Width: 2 meters to 4 meters (6.6 ft to 13.1 ft)
    • Length: 3 meters to 8 meters (9.8 ft to 26.2 ft)
    • Height: 2.4 meters to 3 meters (7.8 ft to 9.8 ft)

  • Gabled Pergolas:

    • Width: 2 meters to 5 meters (6.6 ft to 16.4 ft)
    • Length: 3 meters to 6 meters (9.8 ft to 19.7 ft)
    • Height: 2.5 meters to 4 meters (8.2 ft to 13.1 ft)

COLOUR , plays an important role in the appreciation of our immediate and general environment and without it we would be lost, find our-selves devoid of the stimulation to our visual senses. So how does a human eye perceive colour?  First, a brief overview of how the human eyes work.   In order for us to see, light rays must be bent, or "refracted," so that they can reach the retina . Once the light reaches the retina, it's picked up by millions of "photoreceptors," or light-sensitive cells, called cones and rods. These cones and rods convert the light waves into information your brain can process, like colour , shape, and motion.(Levine,2017, Para.2).
