DIGI-MAP AND PHOTOSHOP     Digi-map. This quick skills task involves making a figure ground or Nolli-map. Firstly, log onto Digi-map > Ordinance survey > roam > enter the site location/postal code and zoom into the site > click on map content > un-click the icon show/hide all layers > click on the buildings and structures > make sure building and structure labels are off > click print once satisfied with what is displayed > print options: print  scale(2500), valid print scale: 1:90 to 1: 12,000, print format: PDF, page size: A3, print layout: landscape > toggle between layout or content preview > click on generate print file > open the file in Acrobat to adjust if necessary.                                                                          ...

Quick skills task 3. On the original base map 5 trees, a pond and pavilion were added. It was then traced and scanned in black and white at 300dpi in Jpeg format  and imported into photoshop to be edited. In photoshop the image was converted to RGB mode and at 8bits. The layer palette was then activated and the foreground icon clicked in order to select colours for bucket filling. The Bucket fill tool is one of the major tools in photoshop used in adding colours. However, there are other tools such as the colour picker tool which does a similar job. In order, to make an object unique and have its own layer first use the bucket fill tool to add colour, select the object to make unique with the magic wand tool, use the control + c key on the keyboard to copy > edit > paste special > paste in place and this process automatically creates a new layer for the object. we can now add various types of effects (fx) to that particular object such as Pixelate by clicking on the Filter...

Wildlife Meadow and Forest garden           One of the many areas of interest to me is wildlife meadow creation, sustainability, maintenance and management. A landscape should not only be beautifully  moulded but should equally be teeming with life. A wildlife meadow attracts feeders and pollinators alike such as butterflies, bees, moths, and birds. It also serves as a place within the a surrounding community for contemplation, social cohesion and also known to improves mental health. Also, forest gardens that are planted by the community and for the community to serve as a food source    Wildlife meadow. Forest garden.
